                              ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dariana Arias is a professional artist focusing on the visual arts. Her artistic practice relies on analog and digital modalities. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, and a minor in philosophy from the George Washington University. Dariana's artistic journey started during childhood, when she was introduced to the art of charcoal still-life drawing and landscape oil painting. Her art practice is eclectic in nature, combining traditional techniques and contemporary themes that reflect the intersectionality between gender studies, sociopolitical issues, cultural heritage and spirituality. From abstract to figurative, her paintings are delightful to the eye, presented to the viewer sometimes as a colorful display of sharp lines and geometrical shapes, and other times as vivid amorphous beauty. Dariana has been cultivating her artistic practice in Washington D.C. for over a decade. She has exhibited throughout the Nation's capital as well as facilitated art workshops, discussions, non-medical art therapy, and done community outreach with Art.

PROFESSIONAL ARTIST STATEMENT

As a visual artist, I seek to cultivate and expand my creative process through visual works capable of reflecting the human condition. As my artistic practice evolves, my view of Art becomes more fluid and ever changing. I conceive Art as the material manifestation of human creativity, and as the primal foundation for visual language. At any given moment in the human timeline, the visual arts might serve as a metric to measure human evolution through iconographic expression. Therefore, my mission as an artist is to sow  seeds of creative fecundity in the minds of my audience, so that our collective evolution is guided by Art.
