Title: Messi and his Golden World

This artwork is part of a three-piece series paying tribute to Messi’s legacy. It is emblematic of Messi’s mid-career phase, his Argentinean heritage, and his first and only victory in the world cup tournament with the Argentinian team. Here, he is wearing the Argentinean soccer uniform and holding the world cup. Behind Messi the viewer sees “the Argentine cockade", one of the most symbolic patriotic symbols of Argentina: the blue and white circle and the golden sun. Around Messi, prominent historic and natural landmarks found throughout Argentina, are visible. On the upper left corner, there is the symbolic representation of the Museum of Contemporary Art in the city of Rosario (where Messi is from); below, is the representational image of Rosario's Monument to the flag, and on the lower left corner are the iconic Iguazú Falls. On the upper right corner is the Buenos Aires Obelisk; underneath the obelisk, a representational image of the artsy "Caminito de la Boca" neighborhood in Buenos Aires, which is of great cultural importance; and on the lower right corner, an image of the UNESCO world heritage site "Quebrada de Humahuaca",  in the Argentinean Andes.
