Title: Self-transforming Elf Machines From Hyperspace
This artwork is part of my ongoing collection titled, “Entering the Hyperspace”, inspired by the work of American ethnobotanist and visionary, Terence McKenna. All artworks in this collection are titled after quotes and sayings taken from McKenna’s lectures.
Terence McKenna’s concept of “Self-transforming Elf Machines from Hyperspace” refers to the fantastical, otherworldly entities he claimed to encounter during intense DMT (dimethyltryptamine) experiences. He described these beings as playful, intelligent, shape-shifting creatures made of light and language, existing in a dimension beyond ordinary space and time. These "machine elves" appeared to communicate in a visual, almost linguistic form, offering paradoxical messages and seemingly creating or manipulating reality through song, symbol, and movement. McKenna believed they were not hallucinations but emissaries from a deeper, hidden layer of consciousness or reality.
