I was recently asked, “Dariana, why do you make Art?”
I pondered over the question for some weeks… Why do I paint?
I found no easy answer for myself, nor eloquent answers to satisfy the curiosity of others… Nevertheless, something I know to be certain, is that Art has been an incredible personal journey of self-discovery and healing, as well as a challenging career path… And like Robert Frost, I took the road less traveled, and it has made all of the difference in the world:
I have followed the spirit of Art into abstract thought,
Made love with Art, and gave birth to lively compositions dressed in vibrant colors and dynamic patterns,
My paintbrush has brought to life, glimpses of the hyperspace,
I’ve played with cool hues that invite the viewer into tranquility,
When I listened to a symphony of colors, Art whispered ideas to me…

So why do I make Art?
Because Art is a portal to an emotional and cognitive state, where I find me in harmony with myself and the world; and once I found Harmony, I followed it.
Because Art is my call to self-expression, my motivation for self-discipline, and my door to the imaginal.
Because Art is the modality that I use to relate to myself, and articulate my understanding of my environment.
Because the process of art-making is highly satisfying to me; it is the best universal language I can use to
communicate with others throughout the world, and perhaps even throughout time!
I make Art because it seduced me, and I loved it!
